Julie A. Davis – Plein Air Artist
Julie is a seventh generation native and has been painting plein air landscapes in Northern Vermont for over twenty years. She has lived and worked in the Burlington area for over thirty years where she is known as a prolific oil painter of many subjects working in a loose, expressive style.
Julie began painting in her mid-thirties and after just one year of painting, was awarded a fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center- an internationally renowned artist retreat in the town of Johnson. She has returned to the retreat several times for intensive work periods where she has been exposed to hundreds of artists from all over the world.
Julie was also influenced and mentored by a number of contemporary professional New England plein air painters. Included among the many masters she admires are New England painters Jay Connaway, Emile Gruppe, Georgia Balch, Lois Foley and Ruth Mould (all now deceased).
